Default Taillight bulb replacement

Ok so im trying to replace the bulb for the outer top(red) part of my taillight. Should you just be able to push the bulb in? I tried and i was pushing so hard im afraid im gonna crush the bulb with my hand. Anyone replaced one before?

make sure it has the correct dual bulb filament with two connections. there's a single filament bulb that looks the same but will not fit correctly.

if you have the correct bulb...all you need to do is push and twist to lock.

It has the dual connectors but i think its the wrong bulb. It looks identical except it has different # than the oem i pulled out. Autozone gave me the wrong one.

1156 is the one way bulb.
1157 is the two way.

Anything with an "a" after it is amber.
