Ah..ok. In regard's to Bakeoff's post, he mentioned the tires breaking loose as a product of the gearing, therefore, my post with gear ratios. BUT, good to know about the forks.

Are the forks interchangeable? Like, if you broke one in the 5G tranny, and wanted to order a new one, could you "upgrade" using 6G shift forks?

so on my bolton z6 engine with hopes of a homemade turbo someday when my wife approves it it would be best to get the y8 tranny cause right now I have the cx tranny and 5th is a useless gear and third takes forever.

The 5th gen SI has a shorter 2nd than the 5th or 6th gen EX. Unfortunately my car eats trannys (cause my friends don't know how to drive)

I've had the stock 00 ex tranny, a 96 ex tranny, a 95 SI tranny and finally my 96 HX tranny. I think the 95 SI was BY FAR the best, i loved it.

DO NOT get a DX/HX/LX for boost cause it sucks, my HX tranny gearing is so long and crappy. You don't need a super long tranny if you have a decently quick spooling turbo.

my HX goes... 1st to 42, 2nd to 70, 3rd to 110, 4th to only god knows. But come on the gap between 2nd and 3rd is ridiculous, i can run the 1/4 mile in 3 gears now and that's horribly gay.

Shorter gearing gives you best acceleration regardless of boost or n/a.

I'm not saying you're wrong...just want to make sure I have correct info. I got the numbers in my above post from Hondaswap.dom. Where did you find a difference between the Si and EX 2nd gear? Like, posted on what site/reference?

hrmm i honestly don't remember, i think i read it in the helms manual but i know it's correct. I think 2nd on the SI tranny ended around 57 mph and the EX's were right at 60-61 mph.

No problem, basically just stick with a 5th or 6th gen SI/EX tranny and you should be set. The important thing is, get a GOOD CLUTCH for boost. I reccomend the ACT HDSS and a lightened flywheel would be nice while you're putting it all in. I highly regret not putting a flywheel in when i did all my trannys but they were kind of emergency installs and i needed my car.

good luck and props for another boosted sohc here at HAN
