Default Purchasing Headers.....

I know that headers are a nice way to bold on some HP....but do you seriously have to buy a DC, Greddy, Apex'i...etc. I hear from input on forums that they are so much money because their finish/paint last along time...but steel is steel and dont they all pretty much give the same horse power...except the 4-2-1 and 4-1...that could be a difference...well I was just wondering is there some cheap headers out there that I can purchase since I am on a low budget......and is there any way to make them not rust or chip if they are that ghetto........I am hoping to put a nice cat back on there since I already have a high-flow cat.....the headers hopefully.....only post if you are gonna help my ass

You can get a Pacesetter for about $100 bucks. Then you can buy one two years later after the first one rusted out. And it's made of steel too.

How much do you want to spend? I can get the DC header for about $250 + shipping. You won't find it cheaper. Lemme know man.

did you fix yer wheel well yet bish? :fawk: And hows that rim dong? . With the headers, you kinda get what you pay for, i'd find a good name brand for a lower price somewhere. Maybe groupbuy or from a hookup (like the one above). If you get the cheap ass stuff, it could end up cracking on you quick.

I would suggest the stainless steel header. I've heard stories about ceramic coated headers chipping and/or cracking. Something you might want to consider when purchasing your low budget header.

They both have their downfalls. The SS will turn brown from the heat after while and the CC will eventually darken and the coat will start to come off. ESPECIALLY if you touch them with dirty/greasy hands. You'll never get the cc clean again. After my dc cc's started to look like butt after about a year on, I took them off and painted them silver with some grill paint. You couldn't even tell I had painted them. They looked just like the cc and the paint stayed on just fine.

Just thought I'd share that little tidbit.

But at least the SS header is cheaper than it's CC counterpart.

huh? I've never seen an SS header cheaper than cc.

What brand are you talking about? If you're talking about a pace setter ss being less than a dc cc, then you're right, but the dc ss is about $100 more than the dc cc....
