QUESTIONS- HELP :) ( When did they put VTec Engine's into Civic COupes?
Okay this is the jardest question of the day for me! Ive joined like 3 forums asking for help. Here goes nothing...
When did they start putting 1.6 Vtec Motors in Civic SI Coupes? I believe it started in 1994. Is this correct? Prior to tht they were just 1.6 SOHC engines..right? Please help me! I've been called some pretty nasty things today for asking this question..but I need to know! :) The truth must be told! :) |

um... it's nothing really hard.
sohc vtec motors in civic coupes/hatches/sedans/del sols since 92 dohc vtec motor in the civic si coupe was from 99-00 del sol's got the dohc vtec motor in like 95 96 and 97??? don't remember. that's united states jdm land had vtec in the crx's since 88. first vtec equiped car sold in the states from honda was the acura nsx. enjoy. |
Fully understand the US side of it all...Im Canadian. I need the Canadian specs! They dont make Vtec Hatchbacks in Canada..EVER. Like they never ever ever have. Only ever did in Coupe SI's. Just wanting to know what year they started putting the vtec in the engines of the coupes in Canada.
Little harder now eh? It's the same thing in Canada. 1992 civic si, civic ex coupe, civic ex sedan. Possibly even civic vx.
Just that our 99-00 civic si coupes are called civic sir coupes in Canada. |
dear poindexter: canada and usa = same.
also stop saying vtec you aren't clarifing if it's sohc or dohc. my figures are correct. |
You are wrong though....I own a 1993 Civic SI Coupe. NON Vtec. 1.6 SOHC. They didnt put Vtec in COupes til 1994. and NO hatchbacks have vere been Vtec

Re: Re: QUESTIONS- HELP :) ( When did they put VTec Engine's into Civic COupes?
Canada and US is not the same. Our SI-R's are top of the line...SI is next.
CX, DX, SI, SI-R is the way it goes. I own a 1993 NON Vtec Coupe. 1.6 Litre. I have yet to find a 1993 or prior Vtec car in Canada. Its not the same as the US at ALL... Originally posted by Sasebonian Hmmm.... Let me see if I remember. I think your SiRs are our Si's. And your Si's are our Ex. So 92 is when the 1.6 SOHC VTEC started for the 5th gens. Then the SOHC VTEC valve covers started in 94-95 for the USDM Ex/CDM Si. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Also the Del Sol's got the 1.6 DOHC VTEC in 94-97. |
