Finally got liscense, question on gauges
Hey guys, long time..well after nearly 2 and a half years of no drivers liscense, I finally got it today and damn does it feel good to actually drive the car thats been sitting in front of my house since April!
Best part is, since I have ignition interlock device installed, none of my dumbarse friends can legally drive it and pretend they are playing Crusin USA with my car and feel like they have to drive it as hard as possible for some reason
Anyways, wondering if anyone has heard of reverse indiglo gauges that don't have the white face for the daytime. I can't seem to find anything of the sort.
Thanks guys,
Brent

Yeah, ignition interlock? Is that one of those things where you have to provide a fingerprint or retina scan before it'll start?
Or one of the ones you have to blow into so it measures your blood alcohol?

Thanks for the lovely link OSX, but I already knew about that lil project you had going, I was talking about something that was currently on the market.
Retina scan...lol, nah it isn't that special. The ignition interlock device is just a fancy way of saying "breathe in this mf'in tube and pass or you can't start your car" to be honest, and its pretty sensitive to just about anything, including toothpaste, mouthwash, even candy. You also get a "rolling" test which happens randomly within a half hour of you starting the car to prevent sober pals to blow for ya. Did you know that for like the past 5 years, people have been trying to get a law passed where every car has to have one of these installed..don't hold your breath though <g>, it'll never happen unless something drastic happens.
Cost about 130 to install and around 70 bucks a month until the restricition is lifted off of my liscense.
They are typically only for repeat offenders and aren't that well known, really..the guy who installed mine said that his shop serves nearly the entire East Bay, and he only has 18 customers! (19 now
) Gee, I feel so special...
Now before you start flaming how stupid I am for drinking and driving, I've been sober ever since that day I crashed on June 3rd 2001, and completely learned from my mistakes. Its all good though, it makes a great conversation piece lol
