engine swap
Alright I am bound and determined to get my sol fast enough to compete with v6's and some v8's I hate domestics.......I am looking for a b16 to port out and find a huge turbo and I was hoping that someone could tell me where to get a b16a1 or a2 for a reasonable price......I would go with the h22a but I dont want to have to deal with the understear I love sliding around those sharp turns hahaha so plz let me know places to get a b16 I'm gonna take a trip to the junkyard this week and see what I can find maybe get lucky and find a b18 or even better like my friend that found an rsx engine turbo for 3000 damn wish I was that lucky

but at any rate; you're not gonna want a b16a1; the tranny won't work so hot in your car without adapters, and oversteer isnt as bad as you may think it's gonna be with the h22. I'm a trackhead (road racing) and I plan on going h22. Make sure you know how to drive your car really hard as it is first, it's not all about the power. if you're into the turns like you said, the del sol is a perfect car for it. Drop $2k into the suspension instead of the motor and you'll be much faster than with just the motor; it's 90% driver. Plus, you can already take v6's; I've had a few v6 camaros and mustangs (if you even dare to call them that with the v6; poor cars) fall prey to my d15. But really man; take the money and put it into suspension and driving lessons, you'll be much faster.

A supercharged (I prefer that to turbo) H22A falls within my distant plans, but if you're not into that, I'd say B18C out of a GSR would be good for you to work with. Like Jon said, good suspension work is crucial to being fast in the way you are looking for. I beat out my friend's '89 5.0 Mustang in my D16Y8 Sol on a twisty course. The Sol can make turns like a bat out of hell even with stock suspension.
