Default Eagle rods any good?

Well it looks like I'm getting a good enough deal on my motor locally that I may be able to spare enough money to build it up a little. I was wondering if Eagle H-beam rods were any good. They go for around $300 pretty regularly on ebay. I don't really know too much about rods, so yay or nay?

BTW, they're for a B20, and I haven't decided wether or not to tackle a vtec conversion--but if I did, would these hold up to 8200 rpms consistently?

Thanks

Yes eagle rods are cool, 8200 rpm? better do some head work, and user a GSR or tpye R crank. But a stock b20 @ 8200 RPM = death.

thats why i used the word "tackle." If I do build a cr/vtec, I would build it thoroughly. I wouldn't consider taking a stock B20/ls bottom end to 8200.

to run 82k you MUST build the head also

i run eagle rods, they work super, but i have not pushed them to see if they hold up. Do a search on Honda-Tech

Eagle rods are decent for up to 400whp, but I've heard some horror stories of dsm's running around than that and snapping a rod.

If you're planning on more than that, I would see about some Pauter rods.

I don't think I'd be looking at anything over the 200hp range, if that.

I'm saying I'd only run 8200 on a vtec (b16a) head. I'm not trying to make an LS/b20 head run to 8200.

If i don't swap the head, I'll stay below 7k.

Probably $300 for the shortblock. I haven't checked it out yet, so we'll see how it looks.
