Default Did your AEM CAI break?

I've heard a few stories about people's AEM CAI filter breaking after just a few miles.

Anybody have this experience or know anything about this?

I thought AEM was quality, and the K&N filter they use was quality.

The rubber neck of the filter ripped and unfiltered air got sucked through it... from what I read.

I've never heard of this happening. That's not to say it isn't true, but i must know a ton of people with the aem and none have had this problem.

Was it CivicSiRacer or EX-R that broke theirs? It broke at the mounting point and ripped a hole in the side. I've only seen it that one time.

Yeah, similiarly I've read about how some people got holes in their intakes from an unproper installation. The hole that the pipe goes through was rubbing against the intake and eventually made lots of gashes to create a hole.

Mine was like that in my hybrid but I never bothered to install it properly. There should have been a rubber bushing right above the frame rail before it went under and an Integra has a threaded hole for one, a Civic does not and I was too lazy to drill and tap one. The actual pipe rubbed the front tranny mount and wore a piece of it away, never actually made a hole. I trimmed the mount and it was fine.
