Your cars aren't even in the same class, so it's really pointless. If you wanna race him in a better way, do it autocross.

If you REALLY wanna do it, all ya gotta do is send your block off for sleeving, spend a good amount of money and a big turbo, a boost controller, missing link, spoon ECU, and some other things I probably haven't mentioned. If you think it's really that important to prove to your friend who has a smaller penis and a bigger paycheck, it's fine with me, but personally, go autocross, it's something the sol can do really well. Upgrade your suspension, get some fine adjusting tools baer sells, put on the swaybars, tie bars, and strut bars, make sure your camber is good, then go have fun.

Which is more fun, the curves or the straight line?

EDIT: You won't get many replies on this, because it's pointless and not many people want to waste their time on the subject.

His car has a V8, yours gets 31mpg; He goes fast in a line, you go fast around curves case closed.

:chuckles: its funny 'cause its true.

but serously, if you have a couple thousand dollars just sitting around, do what Falkon says and you can beat him in a drag. or just sneak in to his garage one night and take out some piston heads. personally i would say autocross is gonna be VERY much to your advantage. unless you are some demi-god of the launch and your thunderbird friend is about 9000 lbs. or a potato, and therefore unable to drive a car.

hahahahahahaha that's great.

I'm glad to be right for once. I mean don't get me wrong the Del Sol is a fun ass car to drive, but it's no sports car, and it's no muscle car. Stroke it, Nos, yeah it'll be fast, but where did that 31mpg and Honda reliability go? Exactly. Keep your car reliable. Wanna beat him? Show him your still driving Del Sol when he's having his motor rebuilt or car hauled away to the junkyard.

amen.

while hondas do have a great potential to become very quick cars, they were intended first to be very quality cars. not to menton reliable, inexpensive, popular and fun to drive. many american cars are simply built for horsepower and overkill on speed. nobody on earth needs as much power that is put into american hot rods, but they are sold, and then sent back to the shop every 4 months to be fixed. ever wonder why there is such a giant aftermarket for imports and not domestics? people see the inexpensive, quality base of a honda and know they can work them up to be supercars, sure you could pay thousands and blow him away, but at the moment he is gonna kill you in a drag simply by the fact that honda never intended to have a muscle car like a thunderbird, mustang, camaro, corvette and whatnot. they intended to have great cars that are just enjoyable to go out and drive for the sake of driveing.

:wtf:

I looked up performance specs on the 95 sol and got this

1/4 Mile : 16.6 sec @ 84.9 mph

This is stock BTW.

http://home.nycap.rr.com/jandm/solspecs.htm

well 16.5 is sad for ANY V8.
