Default trunk pistons

my trunk dosent work

the hydraulic pistons dont seem to have enough pressure to lift the trunk anymore, making the release latch useless. the honda place wants $250 to replace it, the nearby shop has the pistons for $20... anything i should know before i try this myself? they seem to be able to pop out.... somehow.... im afraid to go wild on them, anyone done something like this before?

SUPER easy to do. I even have a set in my garage if you want em. just grab the good old 12mm box wrench and go to town.

does your trunk pop at all? I had a problem like that, and yes I need to replace mine too. There's these two rubber knobs, one on each side of the trunk. Twist them a bit then put your trunk down. It should pop now. It won't raise up by itself, but it will unlatch and pop up about 1/2" so you can open it.

cool, thanks for the help. my trunk will pop, just not lift. i think im gonna go try it today, the wrench idea was alot better than my dad's thought of hitting them with a hammer we figured they would pop out like a ball socket joint on your arm and pelvis... but i dont tend to like automotive repairs that invlove the step "now wack away at your car with a hammer untill fixed"
