Default Camshaft installation

Just kidding, I have a few basic question, and nobody seems to bother answering them on the sticky thread. Here they are:

1. What's a throttle body
2. What's a BOV do?
3. I just changed the oil in my car, do I need to "break it in"?
4. 200,000 miles are on it, what kinda checks ups should I do?
5. When does VTEC kick in?
6. What are the main preformance differences between sohc and dohc?
7. I'm not totally sure on this, but doesnt a crankshaft move the pistions up and down?
8. Is there a site where I can learn the basics of a car, and a site w/ the basics of tuning Hondas?

1) Throttle bottle comes after the intake pipe (where it is attached to the engine) and before the intake manifold...(back of your engine) its where the air is let into the manifold depending on how much throttle you give the car...

2) A BOV (Bloow-off vavle) does what it says...it's a valve that 'blow's off ' any excess pressure in a turbo reducing back pressure and giving u more air flow/power...it adds a nice pssshhh sound as well....

3) Uhhh....I dont think so...i could be wrong....

4) Christ that's a lot of miles. Look at getting you're compression tested, and your valve timing corrected...that many miles can cause problems in that area...

5) VTEC doesn't kick in at one standard point, there are many variables that can affect it's 'kick in' point...but it basically kicks in AROUND 5,000 i think...i duno I don't have it....

6) An SOHC has less performance than a DOHC does because...well....one has 2 cams....lol...sry.....for #5, this question, #7, and #8.... goto www.howstuffworks.com it has articles on how an engine works, both SOHC and DOHC, also how VTEC works, and even how a Turbocharger/Supercharger works....You can learn a lot, but there's nothing like experience...

Hope this helps, sry if I'm wrong about some stuff....

holy moly man...do you live under a rock??

Just kidding man..I'll try an be real simple with this...but might I also suggest you get yourself a basic automotive book, a haynes manual and maybe even a "road and track 'illustrated' automotive dictionary"

1. whats a throttle body?
-It's where the throttle valve(butterfly) is located....basically it's where air gets into your engine.

2. what is a bov?
-trust me, you don't have one..it's a component of a turbo-charging system and if you're asking you don't have one.(stick to the basics)

3. I just changed the oil in my car, do I need to "break it in"?
-no..unless a an engine rebuild came with that oil change(and it didn't) NO just drive

4. 200,000 miles are on it, what kinda checks ups should I do?
-get a haynes manual and do every checkup in the damn book.

5. When does VTEC kick in?
-did you hear someone say that ? you may not even have vtec..I know nothing about your car......

6. What are the main preformance differences between sohc and dohc?
-single overhead camshaft and dual overhead camshaft.
- the dohc has more tuning potential due to the fact that you can adjust the intake cam profile and the exhaust cam profile idividually and ....why am I doing this you didn't know what a throttlebody was??

7. I'm not totally sure on this, but doesnt a crankshaft move the pistions up and down?
- No combustion actually moves the piston which is connected via a wrist-pin to the connecting rod which reciprocates( for lack of a better word) on/with the crankshaft.............

you know what I can see why no one has answered to this thread...this is really painfull and it's not your fault.....

But if you are serious about this take a course or two and gets some books on 'basic' automotives...don't try and get books like fundamentals of turbo charging or anything crazy like that ...

But whatever you do don't go spounting off random bits of information you heard at the gas station. or even on this web-site...

Knowledge is power, ignorance is ugly and God don't like ugly
