the coolpix comes with a nonrechargable. but look at that as a good thing. the ones that come with rechargable batteries arent usually AA batteries. what you run out of batteries on the road, have fun buying a litium before you can find an outlet to charge it in. with AA, you can find a set of AA just about anywhere.

the coolpix can take 2 AA. invest $50 to buy a great rechargable set of batteries. with 1600mAh batteries, the coolpix took about 120 before i had to recharge it. with 2000mAh and 2200mAh out now, itll be a while before you recharge them.
