neither did you.

the original poster never mentions that he is actually considering getting an H22. He admits that a worked NA F22 would never be an H22, but he never states he wanted an H22. You and the others make mention of simply getting an H22.

Further, you distort some of the facts in your price quotation. Most H22's can be purchased and installed buy a decent shop for aound $4000 out the door. (I'm not talking 2000 model Type S motors)Buying a turbo kit is about $3000, but what about labor, dyno time and tuning expenses. Maybe he can do the work himself and save there, but the fact is he is looking for a shop in Calgary to do the work. At minimum, he may be looking at close to $600-1000 in labor for the turbo install. And at a bill of $3600 (cheap side) he will have a motor putting around 220-240 crank hp at around 7-9 psi waiting to blow up because none of the internals have been beefed up.

To continue my argument, a motor rebuild if done by yourself very thoroughly will run close to a grand in parts (i'm talking rods, pistons, rings, fresh gaskets, and some valve train reinforcement) . Again if he could do the work himself the cost would not be soo bad, but it doesn't look like he can so figure in another $500 to a grand in labor...suddenly the cost of going turbo for a run at closer to 300 hp reliably is costing $5100 to $6000 ....and if you look at the guy in the link previously mentioned here, he has spent more like $8000+

you know what? all of a sudden an all motor F22 with a CR of around 11:1, head work, a new cam and around 200-220 crank hp for around $3500-$4000 installed doesn't sound so bad....

youre right bang for the buck is FI all the way compared to NA, but the bang takes a lot of bucks and you never know: You might just be happier with a rev happy all motor setup.
