Maybe you can find out how they do it on the 03 accords and do the same. Or just get a motion sensor like my old alpine alarm had so if someone is to close to the car it chirps, and if they stay it goes all the way off...
That's a feature that was first introduced in the anti-theft systems of mid-90's Acura's and has since been integrated into the Accord's.

The 1997 Accord has no such system. I think a similar anti-theft was introduced in the 6th gen Accord. Other manufactures have even gone as far as to disable the power door lock switches alltogether once the anti-theft system is engaged.

Anyhow about the problem at hand. I would definately consider an aftermarket alarm such as a Viper or Clifford. Window tints would also help, If they can't see in it adds an element of uncertianty. Most theives look for the easiest available targets. Discouraging them is key as they will just go look for something easier.

Personally my car is tinted down 4% Madico Onyx Flat Black on all windows and 28% Madico Onyx Flat Black down the entire windshield. My security is provdied by a simple Viper 500+ with all entry points protected, back-up battery siren, horn circut, and a glass breakage sensor. I don't have a shock sensor because I don't care for the flase alarms plus my car needs body work and has no rims so I'm really not to worried about the exterior. I know if my alarm goes off someone is either in my car or just broken a window so I'm coming out armed and ready.

After my car gets painted and the rest of all my JDM stuff is on I'll install my shock sensor. But for now I'm ok.

Getting your stuff stolen sucks. Getting an alarm with a visible deterant will help allot. Always park you car in ver publicly visable places, under bright lights at night, and etc.

Hope everything works out.
