damn that sounds bad. i've been stupid a few times myself. i remember i was disconnecting the ground cable to the battery with a socket and a long extension, stupid me, i hit the positive post with the socket wrench by accident and there was a big spark

nothing bad happened though.

another time i was stupid was when i was reattaching the ground side of one of my amps, and my arm slipped while i was holding the ground cable, and it hit the postive side of the amp. another big spark

nothing bad happened here also...

As for your situation, i would definitely check all the fuses. The fuses are there for a reason, and those reasons are for what me and you have gone through (shorts). Check the box under your dash, as well as the one under the hood (sorry, i dont know where the abs and ebrake light fuses are, if they even exist)
