I own a y7. I've done research on the engine. It is i n fact weaker than the y8. they are NOT the same motor. Don't talk about things you don't know.
I have approx 200whp on my car running 8psi of boost with the Greddy kit, FMIC, and exhaust. Now that I have fuel mods, there's no telling what I can lay down on the dyno. I've been running this setup for almost 2 years now with no problems.
I also know a guy who pushed 302whp and 256ft/lbs with a D16Y8 and stock internals. He just used an aftermarket head gasket. These motors are stronger than everyone thinks, so give the "do a swap" routine a break. You can spend $4k on a swap and I'll spend $2k on a turbo kit and own your ass.

1) y7s and y8s are not the same
2) he is not using boost
3) he has an auto matched with it
