My oil pan is pitted and seems to be leaking, is this something others have experienced?

It looks as if I can get the pan off simply enough by removing the towing bracket and the exhaust manifold. Anyone who has done this job come across any other obsticles that I can't see from under the car? What is it like to get that exhaust manifold back on, does it warp when you remove it? I have seen some in the past that are very difficult to get back on.
