well the airbag is a pretty abrasive, and it will scrape you up pretty bad, in addition to gas burns.
No-one brought forth any quanative data on what will set off the airbags, just speculation, which is worthless.
If your airbag goes off, you at that point lose control of the car, your hands are blown off the steering wheel, and your vision is obstructed.
Now that isn't an issue, if there is an accelerometer, and air bag is only deployed when you rapidly STOP, not decellerate mind you, but stop. If the airbag is deployed, and you are still moving, and you cannot control the car you may/may not be in more trouble than without the airbag.
So if anyone has any objective information about the airbags operation, this would further add to the conversation. But... i'm a realist, so I expect you all to get back to name calling, and petty bickering.

blah blah blah blah blah...
Most frontal systems are designed to deploy at speeds of 10-12 mph. However, Mercedes-Benz and BMW increases the threshold when passengers are wearing their seatbelts at the time of impact (the car actually senses this) to 16 mph.

I have attatched the file as well, in .txt format, but the format is messy now...
How's that for objective information? :fawk:
