Honda vs Toyota: Reliability
From what I have seen the Honda takes the cake in the realiability catagory, at LEAST in the civic, accord vs celica, camry.
I would keep an accord over a camry ANYDAY (Past models, haven't driven the new models so can't judge on those). Camry felt like I was driving a boat, it was VERY slow in accel compared to the accord. And the camry was a pain in the ass, had to go VERY VERY slow over speed bumps at a stock ride height while my friends civic w/ a 2" drop can go right over them with no problems. The new solara (from what I can see in the pics above) looks alright, like it a little more (looks wise) than the new accords...I can't stand the tail ends of the new accords. I don't know if I could compare the Accord with a Grand Prix though....maybe a grand am, but not a grand prix, and especially not a bonneville. Around here old people drive the boat cars..IE Cadillac, Lincoln, Mercury, Camry, Malibu, Bonneville, ect.... I'm not saying Toyota is not reliable, they are, but from my experience Hondas have been MORE reliable.
5th Gen Accord Problems: Passenger Power window motor went out, took to dealer fixed immediatly
(Dunno about Factory stereo, replaced with aftermarket)
98 Camry Problems: Driver door Power Lock malfunctioned, could not lock or unluck vehicle, had to either climb in through passenger side, or open back door reach and unlock manually. (kept over night)
Driver Door Handle (outside) went out. Again had to climb in from passenger side or open back door and reach to open from inside.
(kept over night)
Piece that holds window/ lock controls loose, worked its way out, had to push it back in every day. (didn't feel like spending money to replace)
Not a good seal around windows, made a TON of wind noise while driving. (if screwed around with window height long enough it would get a "good" seal)
Clip/spring for gas door broke so would not "pop" open when you pulled the gas door release. (fixed immediatley...i would hope so, damn $10.00 for a piece of plastic with a little spring on it)
Bottomed out at slightest speed bumps (if going any faster than CREEPING)
Friends Celica was a NIGHTMARE, would list but prob be a page long
Civic....No problems, for anyone i know that drives one for that matter
no dought the camry suspension is more boat like. but man it's so smooth!
