the accord coupe is now the replacement for the Prelude. The solara was never desgined to be of such vehicle. So it really doesn't kick people away by not offering the 6 spd. Most buyers would be just fine with a 4spd auto. A 5spd sequential is more than expected IMO. Toyota offering a 6spd tranny on the solara would just bring more of a variety of vehicle buyers... and not too many people are looking for a 6spd in a toyota.

The Accord is
not a replacement for the Prelude. The Acura RSX is more in line with a Prelude than any Accord, even the six speed. But the RSX was never intended to replace the Prelude, just the Integra. There is no replacement for the Prelude right now, and I don't think there are any on the books for the near future. As for people not looking for a manual transmission in a Toyota proves my opinion and the opinions of many others here..... TOYOTA IS THE BUICK OF JAPAN! Weak sauce.
