First off, a Type R engine is a huge waste of money. The GSR is usually about 1 grand less. If you're looking to go Forced Induction, such as Turbo, don't get the Type R. It's a great All-Motor engine but going All-Motor takes alot of money.

For a GSR swap, you're looking at about 5 grand, give or take a few hundred, for parts and labor.

As for LS/Vtec, there is much debate. Honestly if you're looking for a dependable daily driver, I would go with the GSR swap. LS/Vtec's can be very tricky and there are tons of ways of actually doing it, or what it means. Plus you have an old engine and LS/Vtec isn't the best choice.

I'd go with the GSR. You'll have Vtec then. You're looking at high 14's with it swapped into a 2nd gen hatchback. :naughty:
