i ran mine to the underhood fuse actually, where the battery terminal connects to the underhood fuse there is a screw that hold it on. I attached some loophole type connector to my wire then put it under the screw that holds the battery on. My switch is in the small change holder on the left of the steering wheel. And yeah, you should solder to the switch, or you can by a switch with wires already attached.
