you have to rev the piss out of a b16 to get any power out of them - yeah, they'll handle it, but why not get the same performance out of less revs and cheaper too?! I do not care what other people say, but a stock b18b will always spank a stock b16a - bottom line! In fact, when I just had bolt ons on my 93 D16Z6 I had no problem walking any 99 or 00 stock si, and that motor had 35 less hp than the B16a - explanation would be that the torque band on the Sohc vtec comes in much sooner (around 2500) than a b16, which wakes up around 5000 rpm. Yes, it's all about torque - that's why a b18b hatch is at least 3 tenths faster than a b16a hatch in the 1/4 mile. If you like to rev the crap out of your motor, get a b16 - if you want torque and drivability (not to mention the advantage of .2 liters more displacement and a cheaper swap) get a b18b. They're both good engines - but each has its own advantages.
