If I do get a Toyota Tundra v8 I will be taking that baby off road, even if I do get a toyota tacoma I'll still be doing the same. I'm looking forward to test driving both vehicles.
The 3.4 V-6 (190HP) has plenty of grunt for the Tacoma with an automatic or 5-speed. The 5-speed is on the wild and hairy edge of being downright fun. Tacoma's ride is a bit stiffer than the Tundra's when it comes with the TRD package, but not unliveable by any means.
Only complaint I had with the Tacoma was, surprisngly, the headroom was a bit skimpy. Never fear, I'm 6'5...you probably won't have that problem.
The Tundra's price racks up quickly and I really don't think it's worth the money in this case. It has a nicer interior and is a lot roomier but who cares. Yes, the 4.7 liter i-Force (245HP) V-8 is a sweet engine, but you'll pay at least $27,000 for it. And they're in demand, so expect little negotiating leeway. Don't get the 3.4 V-6 in the Tundra, you'll regret it.
