All you need is some sockets, a rachet, a spring compressor, torque wrench, and some know how. The spring compressor can be rented with a small deposit from most automotive part stores. As for the torque wrench I don't know if these can be rented since I have one of my own. You can buy a torque wrench from sears for around 20-30 dollars. Overall this would be a hell of a lot cheaper then paying someone to do it. To pay some one I would say about 100-150.
Sorry to hear about him ripping you off like that. It just proves how carefull you have to be when buying online.
