well as far as the overheating goes, try all the simple stuff along the lines of your coolant system like temp sensor, thermostat etc before you conclude it is the headgasket because that is major. The pop pop pop could have been another car, or do you think it is possible it was the sound of an exhaust leak from there being a space in between your header and block? But with the symptoms of smoke and overheating sounds like it could be the headgasket which would suck. If you have access to getting a compression check done than have it done and that will tell you a lot, also, pull out the spark plugs and see if you see any water or oil down there, thats another clue that it could be the headgasket.... If it happens to be the headgasket, and you wouldnt do the service yourself, it may be cheaper just to go with a h22 like you are talking about.....
Im not sure what was the pop pop pop, The only thing that is wrong with my exhaust is that gap, leakin resenator, hole in cat.
How do I check out my temp sensor?

I just thought about a possible reason for the overheating and it may be just this simple  but the water pump may be the culprit in all this.
Water pump? Can I check this myself? Like knowing if it is bad or not?

Check your coolant lines and water pump. Or was the "smoke", "steam"? There's a big difference.
Sorry, the smoke was steam. It had to do with the A/C. Im pretty sure it had nothing to do with the engine.
Also guys. I dont know if my motor is really over heating. It is my Gauge that is saying this. But the car has been having really weird symptoms lately you could say. I am going to make a list on what to check. Thanks..
