What are you talking about? My oil turns BLACK @ 4000k . I have an ULEV engine. ULTRA LOW EMISSION VEHICLE made me lose 4-5hp from the regular 2.3 engine. I change my oil when it turns Brownish Black which is around 3000-3500K.

But if not, if you drive normal, then wake up, relaize this is the 21st century and stop being so paranoid over these oil change theories. I agree that if you drive hard (lead foot) you should change your oil more often. But to listen to Manufactures... So do want to pay MSRP for your car? Of course not, the Manufacture Suggests you to change your oil at 7k-10k dpending on the type of car you have. The manufacture Suggestion can be used as a guide line use your judgement. Honda engineers design cars to last about 10 years which is around 100k miles so if you wish to keep your car for that long do as the manufacture SUGGESTS if you will keep your car longer then change your oil more often. USE YOUR JUDGEMENT If your oild turns BLACK then change it if you can see a hint of Yellow\gold then keep driving.
