I've given up on trying to get a really good shave every morning. Just a quick once-over to minimize the stubble but then I get the lovely 5 o'clock shadow. If I spend the time to get a close shave it lasts like two days, but I only bother with that if I have a date or something similar.
I've had the same electric shaver for like 6 years, original blades. I hear you on that.
