i lived in Bpt. for 22 years before i moved up to MA (and besides when i was away at college), and i still head down there quite often, so i know exactly what it's like.

i also knew a girl who worked at sikorski by seaside, and she'd talk about her oh so horrible commute, and how it was so scary. funny thing is, the route she took to get to work did not pass through any bad sections at all, was on all main roads, was well lit, etc.; so i guess i can understand how someone from the outside can have a skewed perception, just because it's bpt. but that doesn't make it right.

this girl would return to her home and paint the town all sorts of horrible colors just because of what she heard and expected, but not what she actually experienced.

ah well, i'm fighting an uphill battle here.
