I too am not an Audi expert but from what I have seen over at VWVORTEX is the USDM A4 had a much stricter exhaust system to make it legal over here. You also need to consider the front and rear bumpers may not be in code either for crash protection.

After all is said and done the cost to do it may outwiegh the benefit to do so.
