M Coupe is a variation on the Z3. Actually its closer to a M Roadster.

It has a 240hp Inline 6 with 5-speed transmission. It's closest to a E36 M3. It shares the engine and the tranmission.

However due to the fact that the M Coupe is some 200-250lbs lighter than the M3 it's significantly faster. Also the factory rating of 240hp is a bit low. Myself and about 10 M Coupe owners had our cars dynoed and most people were making 215-220hp at the rear wheel. So the engine is making approximately 255-265hp.
