The Eagle F1 GS-D3 is supposed to be Goodyear's top of the line dry/wet performance tire. It competes with the Bridgestone S-03, Yokohama AVS Sport and Michelin Pilot Sport. The compound is a bit harder so it lasts longer and isn't quite as loud. I would say that in terms of dry performance it's a step between the Dunlop SP9000 and the aforementioned three tires. Not a bad choice at all really, although if you want the best wet traction out there the S-03 is the way to go.
I ran my MXs pretty hard in the rain last night, to see how they hold up. I've got like 450 miles on them now, so they're getting grippier.
TireRack rated them lower in the water categories, but they're still better than the SP5000s, rain or not.
