this means u have a cross linked cluster....2 files are being pointed to the same cluster......u have to run scandisk and let scandisk try and fix it...last known good will not work in this situation, safe mode wont either....because whatever mode u are in the data on the hard drive is still cross linked...u need to boot from the CD and run scan disk...i'm not sure if u can do that or not but its worth a try.

also, i'm not sure if u can do that....but if u get partition magic u can make a disk that u can boot from to make new partitions, maybe u can also run their scan untility from the floppy

in worse case....if u have more then one partitoin or unallocated space u make a partition using the CD or even a win98 boot disk and move all the data that they really need on that partiton and then just reinstall on the primary partition, making sure u don't delete or install on ur data partition.....
