Default Rear Speakers for a '95

First of all, Hi. I'm new here so go easy on me. I realize some forum users get pissed off at new guys who ask questions without scrolling through the archives first but I am quite overwhelmed with the vastness of this site.
There are over 10,000 new posts since my last visit (was that only yesterday?)!

So, here goes:

I have a '95 Accord LX (That's in Canada so I think it's the same as the DX in the U.S.). My speakers are the originals (crap). I have had a Sony CD Player for years (30WX4) and the speakers are just dying. They can't handle any kind of volume.

So I'm looking for recommendations for replacements. I love my Premier Pioneer system recently installed in my CR-V (50WX4, 180W woofers and tweeters with crossover up front and 160W three ways in the rear). But this cost me over a grand and I have little to spare at the moment for new speakers for the Accord.

I'm thinking then that if I just replace the rear speakers (61/2X9 inch?) with decent three-ways and fade the sound to the back I should be able to get good volume with high quality sound at a reasonable cost.

So can anybody suggest good speakers for this project? I am assuming you can get three-ways in the 9inch variety but I didn't see them when I went to Canadian Tire recently (just two-ways). Brand names? Costs? Any tips are welcome. Also, if there are any obvious flaws with this plan feel free to educate me.

I want something that will fit under the covers as well. I have read about owners who think they have the right sized speakers but something just doesn't fit right. I simple speaker swap is most desirable for me.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions poeple here can provide.

Mike

BTW, on another note, I noticed my avatar that I use on several other sites doesn't work here. Are there no animated GIFs here? I guess I'll have to look around a bit more and see for myself.
