If someone who is not my friend talks shit to me, I talk shit back to them. If they keep talking, I keep talking. I don't hold it against someone if they talk a little shit in my direction. When they stop, I stop. If someone talks shit with me one time I don't talk shit back to them weeks or months later because of some macho crap.

So you can either keep talking shit and get about twice as much talked back at you, or you can stop and have it stop. That's the way it works. My behavior towards you is dependent only on your behavior towards me.
