Before I upgraded to the YellowTop battery, I killed a regular battery (Sears Die Hard?) and an Optima RedTop. But the YellowTop has lasted me for about 2 years now.
The alternator is only 80A and the Autozone replacement is 90A ($100). I've searched and searched and searched for a bigger alternator. I think you can get a 130A or something from ebay for like $200.
I've got 0 ga wired from mine. I will one day have 2 JBL BP1200.1's being powered by the stock electrical system in addition to the P80.4 and P180.2 I already have.
I say get a YellowTop and just run as much as you can until either the YellowTop and/or alternator dies on you. You'll have flickering/dimming in your headlights, but who doesn't?
