Sad truth is, I'm just now falling into tuning. My roommate last year got me interested in cars, and since then that interest has only exploded. Problem is, I have no clue where to begin =/ I've been reading as many forum posts as time permits, because I know that most of you have the experience I'm looking to learn from.
The victim is a 97 Accord LX 2dr, and I'm looking for some help with an exhaust system. I'm pretty certain I want to go dual, but I haven't found much to work with online. It seems dual kits are only for the V6, so my questions are:
a) Is it possible (and relatively simple) to install a dual exhaust system on my ride?
b) Does that involve converting the current system, or would it be a simple bolt-on?
c) What companies would offer those options for me, and which would be the best to go with?
Really looking for some help with this one, and I'm sure I'll be back later for more advice :dunno:
Also, more specifically for a 97 Accord, what other forums might you guys point me towards? Thanks.
answer to A) yeah its simple the hardest part is welding a second set of hangers thats about it
answer to B) u can either get a bolt on kit (many companies do them but mostly for the V6) out side of that all it is, is pipe work any good shop can do it
answer to C) personally i would do a single exhaust but a full cat back system since its a straight bolt on no welding or mod'ing needed
outside of the answers if u have a I4 accord the dual exhaust is just for show and noise u'll have no real gains. most cars today do a dual exhuast due to sound restrictions only. on an I4 u'll have so much lag in ur system its defeats any gains u'll have. its up to u and what u want gains or show.. my 2c
