To do it safely you can borrow a spring compressor set from your local auto parts store. Compress the spring and take all the load off the spring. Slip a open or box ended wrench (19mm i think) over the nut and insert an allen key in the shock shaft. Hold the shock shaft while loosening the shock bolt.
