Are you on stock tires? I bought a 01 LS brand new, then proceeded to put Dunlop SP Sport 5000s on (205/50/15) and launching was 25x easier. I brought these tires over onto my Type R, so I could drive through winter. If you're on stock michelins, launching in wet weather was a problem for me. Even in my LS @ 2000-2500K.
