okay but can anyone give me their opinion on if its worth the money to just get ls (with plans on future boost when the money comes). i mean, is the ls practically as fast as the gsr in acceleration, because of the similar torque specs, or is the higher hp and vtec worth saving for a lot longer? i can afford to get the ls by june, where as the gsr will probably take me a year to save for. i just want some opinions from people who know more than i do about how the engines compare to one another
1.) i've had a LS motor in a 96hatch for about 1.5 yrs. i love the motor cause of the torque at first, but it's not enough. i get 30+ MPG and it's fun to drive. very consistent. best time on a quarter was 15.4 with full interior and system. i'm sure you can do better

--- downfall: the gearing on it sucks so i get passed up by GSR's in 3rd gear, unless they don't know how to drive. btw, that Vtec does make a difference.
2.)it is worth the money to buy the LS because it's cheaper, but you end up spending more money on the long run cause you get whooped by too many people.
--- downfall: LS/Vtec's are too much work. too many possiblities of error especially if it's your first time. i'm not sure about you, but as for me, i have enough mechanics and experience to do it, but after researching it, LS/Vtec just wasn't the route.
3.) i wish i listened and bought a GSR in the first place!!!
---downfall: i wasted time and money with the LS, plus i have a turbine sitting around because i sed i was going to turbo it also. NEVER DID!!! plus i wanted a sleeper...big fat intercoolers give that away
4.) if you have difficulty saving money, buy the LS first to get that initial anxiety out of the way, so that you at least have a contender instead of a dust eatter. later on you can go various routes with Vtec, turbo, supercharger, GSR tranny, etc.
---downfall: you'll still be eatting my dust when i have a GSR motor. :chuckles:
Good Luck Buddy, you'll have lots of fun
