Most prefab CAI's that I've seen for 3rd gen's require the relocation of the battery. I, however, have not seen everything.

Unless there's some kind of shield or guard, I wouldn't want to run it straight down. It's mostly all open there and not far from the ground. Too easily damaged or possibility for problems I would suspect.
