If you're getting a fire extinguisher just for the "damn, my 106hp DX is too dangerous to drive around in so I need one of these" effect, then fine, but otherwise its a waste of time, money, effort, and is more dangerous than not having one.
Hell yea, I'd try to put it out. Call me stupid if you must, I call it passion.

Some people, like myself, put so much sweat and literally blood into our cars. I, personally, put it into the engine work. By what you just said, you don't seem like one of those persons.

Ask anyone who puts hard work into their cars and they will say the same. Every nut and bolt was torqued downed by these very hands typing the post right now. I have no sponsors, I have no generous parents. I pay for everything.

I'm not stupid though, if I know that the fire is too much for me to handle then I will let it be, but there ain't no way in hell am I letting my car burn and melt without putting up a fight. Of course, I don't expect you to understand that.
