Ok, Old guy here has some advice. Carry a fire extinguisher, they're not illegal, and I've NEVER seen or heard of one blowing up (they're not flammable you know, just under pressure)

Just don't mount it on the A-pillar, that's rediculous unless you have a legitimate reason (running nitrous?).

Keep it in the trunk if you have to, better place is somewhere in the backseat area.

And, I had a friend who drove an older Honda, bone stock, by the time the fire truck got to it, it was burned to a crisp. Had an oh-so-small fuel leak that accumulated over time and ignited the engine compartment. The whole car was flaming as he came off the GNO Bridge. hehe.
