I don't know about 99/00 but 96-98 DX's are EJ6's. An EJ6 is any 96-98 civic that is 2, 3 or 4 doors with the D16Y7 engine. EK is not a U.S. code from what I understand, but everyone uses it for the hatchback. It says your number in your VIN, its the 4th, 5th and 6th digits in your VIN.
