Broken Gauge Needles - Fixable?
I ended up busting my gauge needles on my 98 Accord EX 4-cyl. M/T. Kinda. Ok, here's the deal. I was installing gauge faces that were supposed to be placed over my existing gauges. I did it, but the faces wouldn't sit flat, and the needles were rubbing, causing them not to work properly.
I asked my neighbor for a little adive, since he has old cars he works on. So, we ended up pulling the needles out a bit, and a bit more, and so on. The speedometer has ceased to work. It came all the way out, and when being put back in, didn't sit properly, and I think the motor, or whatever makes it work, is messed up. The techometer works, but hangs, after being pulled out, and placed carefully back in. Those are the only two I fooled with.
I fixed my original problem too late, but I used some double sided tape to secure the faces to the gauges, too bad I didn't try this first. So right now, I can only estimate me speed (sorry officer, I don't know how fast I was going....).
Sorry for being long winded, but does anyone know about attempting to fix teh gauges? I was told by a friend that it might even be easier to hit the junk yard, and hope for some luck. Then head to the registry, and make sure they know about the correct milage. Any suggestions?
