The R tranny, as SiR-DC2 has posted, is not the best combo for an LS due to the lower Rev Limiter of 6800 rpm, as compared to the higher reving GSR/R.
My bad. Only way I'd do an LS w/ R tranny is if I was running a crower head w/ 404s and a chipped ecu...don't forget a VTEC oil pump

Then, you could have done a GSR swap and had better gas milage
