well if your dash has never been taken apart before, you should assume all screws are in place. So yes, you will have to take out the center console, including the black radio part. You have to do this because there is a screw on the upper part of that black radio console piece going up, holding the big trim piece that surrounds the A/C control etc..... Once that is done, there are a few screws hidden behind the defroster button, and the cruise control area, then theres a few screws for the actual gauge cluster.
But when putting the dash back together, i left out some screws so i wouldnt have to take the center console out to take out the upper piece etc.... its just easier to go back and do something later.
For the wiring, i find it easiest to tap into your dimmer switch(ground,positive).
