i dont know how to explain it, but downshifting through the gears when coming to a stop synchronizes everything and its much smoother when downshifting. for example, go 4 3 2 and then come to a stop and put it in 1. instead of going 4 2 1. my dad was explaining it to me when i was learning to drive my car a couple years ago and new to the game. it has something to do with the snychro's. if anyone can elaborate on this, feel free to help. oh yeah, another thing i never do is put the car into first when im still rolling, even with the clutch in. i always wait til im stopped. not sure if it helps, but its just a habbit ive formed. it just seems pointless to let the engine break in first gear ( i only let it roll in 1st when im in traffic). thats just me though. but ill quit rambling now.
