I had 17"s before with low profile Toyo Proxies and they were the worst ride of my life. I could feel every small pebble on the ground and a crack in the road felt like a pothole. Any recommendations on tire sizes? i think the rim is 15 x 6.5...when it comes to tires im clueless
Well that's normal with a lower profile tire. Of course you will feel every pebble. It's the difference of sleeping on a bed and a piece of paper on a rocky ground.

For a 15x6.5" wheel I would go with 205/50x15". It's almost the same size as stock so it will not mess up your odometer and speedo, and has more of c ontact patch for traction.

I would recommend:
Kumho 712s
Falken Azenis
Yokohama ES100
Toyo T1-S
BFG KDs
Bridgestone S03s
