Rereading I hope you meant the cowl under the rear hatch... that's what I meant. Sharp tug will do the trick. It's held in place by clips, no screws.

If you meant the front cowl there are a ~20 plastic clips you have to remove after you remove the wipers. You have to remove the hood seal to see a few of them.
